Murray was a one off, an icon and an all round decent chap.
First met him in the 80’s when he was commentating at Lydden Hill. A true fan of anything with wheels and so so nice. Ran into him at the same place a year later and he remembered our earlier conversation. Much much missed.

My favorite Murray Walker moment: "There is nothing wrong with that car except that it's on fire!!" He was simply irreplaceable. Even a French-Canadian like me watched the races in English just to hear his voice.

A great commentator. One of my memories of him was when he turned up at Oulton Park on his BMW motorbike, as a spectator, and of course he was mobbed by everyone wanting his autograph, including me…and what a lovely autograph it was, not the usual squiggly thing, but properly written out.

One of The nicest human beings to ever walk the planet. He would be so excited at the beginning of this 25 season, and his excitement was so infectious. I was lucky enough to interview him a couple of times, and it was like meeting royalty.

I was only around ten/eleven when he retired, but I still remember so many random things in F1 from the late 90's due to his voice. The fact your children can still appreciate his voice shows his longevity within F1.
