Agreed. I've been telling people since the election what was coming. I got A LOT of gaslighting. "Oh that can't happen." "We've got guardrails in our democracy to prevent that." "Oh don't worry. Trump is all talk." Yeah. Thanks for not believing me.
Maybe $100M in pro bono is a cost:benefit winner (and *wow* if that is the case), but history will prove the enormous cost of this to their goodwill. Wait until Trump wants to dictate the pro bono work! Validation can be bittersweet but where you’ll land in the history of all this is far more sweet!
Rachel - the you of 3 weeks ago sensed precisely how craven and ultimately dangerous that firm has proven itself to be; otherwise you would not have tried so hard to get them to take a different path. Trust your instincts. They are excellent.
In your view, are the Skadden partners as the media depicts them - anti-Trump left-of-center types knuckling under pressure?
Or are some of them anti-woke types for whom this is a convenient opportunity to switch their advocacy from, e.g., pro-trans to anti-Palestinian, as they'd've wanted anyway?
THANK YOU for doing what you did and talking about it on TikTok. I live in DC and I’m enraged at all the entities bending the knee. If you organize any kind of movement I want to be a part of it.
Everything about you is perfection! I can’t tell you how incredible it is to see what actual reisistance looks like. Your courage allows others to follow. Thank you!
Thank you for being an example to all of us, especially to those ethically challenged members of the legal profession who can't remember the oaths they took as new lawyers!

Probably even outlast Sullivan & Cromwell.
Decisions have consequences.
