Book people: what book did you read in 2024 that you absolutely loved and want to tell everyone about. I'd like a good book to listen to after my surgery next week, while I am recovering. #BookRecs #BookSky

My favourite book this year is Atomic Habits. I took away so much from it. If you struggle: Man's Search for Meaning was dark but put life into perspective. But if you've had enough of life changing books, and just need a warm hug and pick me up after surgery: read One Night in Italy by Lucy Diamond
Also do you read his newsletter? I LOVE his newsletter it's so good... And I don't typically like email newsletters but this one is so well done. I look forward to it weekly.
I forgot Hello Beautiful was the title of a book. Haha and also I have been looking at the wedding people. I LOVED house in the cerulean Sea, have you read the sequel?
oh wow, right, i should be careful in general about leading w/ the Hello Beautiful title! ; ) i'm so glad you loved House in the Cerulean Sea, & yes i recently read Somewhere Beyond the Sea & though a little longer than necessary imho - just as magical as the 1st

I recently listened to Spare, which I thought was a great listen since Prince Harry narrates it (and not just because of the British accent which makes anything more interesting to listen to 😆). Really interesting insight into life as a royal and all the 💩 he has dealt with.
This is a nice, big chunk of book to listen to, and I learned a lot more about Vikings the raids along the North Sea & English Channel.
The info on textiles was fascinating.
It has a short prequel book called Assassin’s Blade. It’s not as eventful as the main series, but I’m glad I read it since it has a lot of important background.
I LOVED the Happy Place it was my second Emily Henry read. I read People We Meet on Vacation this year. It was also good. Have you read the book she published this year?
I’ve been slowly making my way through Ursula LeGuin’s Hainish novels which are great. Also really liked Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers. (A very cozy post-apocalyptic setting if you can believe it!)
Not sure what you like, but I LOVED Chain-Gang All Stars. It’s absolutely brilliant but can be quite dark. Highly recommend tho. Tales of Desperaux makes for a really fun light read too!
I finally read One Last Stop by Casey McQuinston. An absolute MUST-READ for sapphic romance lovers, especially if you like queer history, mysteries, and found family tropes <3
I know 😭 I literally went on instagram to follow him and comment that I loved the book and the first post was of him and JK Rowling with him thanking her for "standing up for the rights of women and children against gender ideology" 🙄 more digging revealed a lot more controversy. Truly such a shame.
