When Adam Gray wins, it will be 220-215 in the House. Gaetz is out, and Trump has named three GOP members to his administration. So… 217-215 for the first few months? One defection margin? Good luck, Mike Johnson!

When they're this close, they won't hesitate to force GOP members into a 'your job or your freedom' choices when they apply the kompromat. For the handful that refuse even that, we will be reading some obituaries.
They've never been this close to a complete total capture while this openly fascist.
Most important, it gives all of us the chance to make a difference by putting pressure on the few swing district Republicans. Let's be sure to do that wisely.
Hi George, could you please use Alttext? It would be pretty nice if blind and other visually impaired people could read and understand your posts and participate in the discussions.
We can’t count on Dems being a unified voting block, unfortunately. Some (AIPAC funded, for example) will vote against their constituents’ best interests.
Now we know republicans least favorite thing to do is govern. 😂 They settled for obstruction and opposition a long time ago. This just gives them another excuse.
We can only hope, it's stuff like this that is why I did not let the election bother me too much. Until you know the full scale of things there is no point in panic. Elections fully take a few weeks after the big day to sort out.
My dearest friend Betsy traveled on many weekends to District 13 in the Central Valley, going door to door, to get out the vote for Adam Gray. I am so proud of her! Individuals make a difference!
It's because some people have to certify their provisional ballots after elections for them to count because they forgot an ID or proof of address or something, my state allows like 14 days to do that, and some take votes postmarked by election day, plus close races have hand recounts
I was certainly disappointed by Trump's win. But having spent 20 days before the election every day posting a simple message on nearly every post on both Dem and GOP house candidate FB pages for the most competitive races this cycle, this feels good.
Wrong take, I think. Dems need to emphasize that Trump has won total control of all three branches of government. Everything that happens or doesn't happen is on him. If we're so smart, Trump's policies will be a dumpster fire without us trying to light the matches. Let's be _loyal_ opposition.
Problem with that is people who don’t deserve it will be harmed by their policies.
Plus, voters clearly are stupid so if democrats do that, it’s more likely to backfire and result in more people who aren’t right wing loons sitting out another election.
Noted that the nightmare for MAGA is one or more centrist republicans that defect to vote with the Democrats on House Speaker. I'm not really expecting that, but you know, it could happen, and I'm hoping that Mikey is having trouble sleeping nights over the concern.
I trust ya @georgetakei.bsky.social, but I'd have to double-check the math because at least one of Drumpf's picks from the House (Chavez-DeRemer) just lost her reelection bid to her Dem opponent (Janelle Bynum), so her appointment doesn't impact the GOP majority.
Who could replace Mike Johnson if he's eliminated as Speaker of The House? The Republican Party doesn't have hardly anybody that can really fulfill the job, I can't say who I would pick it would embarrass me with all those goons in Congress all of the good ones are like ripe apples like Nancy Mace
Hard to say. But anyone would be very, very weak. Johnson is only there because he's on somewhat working terms with House Democrats. Or else he would have been gone ages ago.
Once approved Elise Stefanik and another RepubliCON from Florida will also be gone. This would reduce the RepubliCON majority down to 217 until specially elections are held.
Mike Johnson better hope there are no defectors or anything else to reduce their total.
I hope people are starting to realize that Voting Counts.
I’m sick of supposedly grown-assed people not knowing what the Branches of Govt are, and their functions.

Jared Golden (ME CD2) won with 50.03%... but half of us in Maine are expecting him to resign from the party and officially be "Independent" to give himself more freedom to support the orange one.
That women from upstate NY is a shot for a flip, not sure if Kathy Hockul can appoint or if there's special election. Jeffries might do well to see if he can get a couple Reps to flip so he gets the gavel.
Unrelated topic slightly, but you know the person who pisses me off the most in this country? Susan Collins. Can she just retire already? We'd have that Senate seat...
And with the way things have started, Dems need to capitalize on these special elections to fill the vacant spots. They can turn this around quickly if they strike fast and with a disciplined message.

They only won by a *slim* margin this year.
Push through, time to return the favor

There are actually still 2 Never Trump republicans who rep blue districts in the house.
So for the time being we will have 1 check coming in.
Take heart, everyone!
That includes you normal Republicans too!
We know you're out there! And we appreciate you!

He's on a mission from God!
Mandate? What world does less than 50% of the population mandate anything to the remaining. 50.8% of the house seats through gerrymandering mind you.
Mike Johnson better hope there are no defectors or anything else to reduce their total.

let the legal battles begin.......!
judicial appointments have never been more important
Jeffries is not a left wing nutjob, he's more moderate and should appeal to those GOP disenfranchised with the current GQP direction.
