It’s game time in NJ. Sadly, I need to keep looking up who’s running for Governor since I’m not seeing any action and I’m all over social media and admittedly, a bit of a news junkie. Dems need to stand up and stand out.
I don’t think this should be limited to swing districts. Dems should be trying this in every district that they can. Ask the important questions and have respectful dialogue everywhere.
GOOD this is a great way to build up a base to primary both the neo liberal dipshits in our party and republicans who pretend as if they are unanswerable to their constituents!
Love this! My rep Ann Wagner hasn’t held a townhall in over a decade. We’ve been protesting outside her office every Sunday for a month now and someone else is doing a town hall with it without Ann Wagner. She won’t show but we will organize and work to defeat her!
This is exactly what we did with Rodney Frelinghuysen! No town hall in 4 years. We held “Fridays with(out) Frelinghuysen” until he decided not to run for reelection. Then we elected Mikie Sherrill. #Sherrillforgov
💯 agree. You can’t even access her local office during office hours. It’s locked. She doesn’t return phone calls or emails either. And her staff will berate you if you ask them difficult questions or curse. They are very rude.
I hope to see solid democrats doing this in every district! The Dems need to stop putting sacrificial lambs on the ballots and find serious candidates so we can win back the house and senate!!
The person you didn't vote to represent you is willing to listen and represent you anyway, you can't get much more honourable than that NJ.
While your still breathing you can learn from your mistakes.
If Mike Johnson’s House passes his dirty Continuing Resolution and he sends everyone packing from DC, so he can try to blame Democrats when the GOP senate can’t pass it, every member of Congress will have time for town halls. No excuses.
I attended a rally over the weekend where it was suggested—just as you're doing for MIA lawmakers—make sure to invite the press and publicly voice your concerns. You can even set out a chair for the representatives. If they choose not to show up, that empty seat will be filled by a chicken.
This is a great idea, Dems also make a loud point of offering to take all the citizens’ concerns back to their Republican reps in DC, since the reps are avoiding them…
@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social @whitehouse.senate.gov @schumer.senate.gov @amyklobuchar.com @reptedlieu.bsky.social paying attention or are you all too incompetent and lazy ? - Americans are begging your interns to read your comments. Otherwise RESIGN
Passaic county was very blue until 2024 when every city but Paterson went for Annoying Orange. We aren’t winning and stop papering over how bad New Jersey has become.
August recess before budget...
Kennedy's incumbent midterms were the worst since 1932 at -22 seats in the House.
C'mon MAGA, try for -25 or -30 in 2026!!!
35 of the 2024 House districts were +/- 2% either way.
Just saying...
Why isn't every Democrat doing this.
Just look at the crowds Bernie is getting. If their GOP Reps won't hold town halls, then Dem candidates should be. Show independents and open minded GOP an actual option.
My rep here in WA did explain that to do this you have to use your own campaign funds to pay for it. So if you have the funds like Bernie does it works. Just a detail I had no idea about
Why not ask for donations to support them? Even just $1 will help. I donated to Gay Valimont, only second political donations! Only for the democrat candidates!
My understanding is no. A member of Congress has to pay for it all out of campaign funds as it’s considered fundraising. The local party may be able to pay for some things but as a leader in my local party we have very little money to spend on stuff like this. We give all our money to candidates
Yes all the expenses. I had no idea either but we have a local FB group that my member of Congress is a member of too and she gave us a detailed explanation of it. It has to come from campaign funds.
This seems very odd to me. A townhall meeting is for constituents, it's literally by the people, for the people. It seems like it should be paid for through our taxes.
If the town hall meeting is in their own district they use expenses allocated to each member of Congress to do normal business. But when they go do town halls outside their own district its considered campaigning and they have to use campaign funds
I miss Malinowski as my Congressman. But I’m proud to say he’s been feet on the ground with NJ State and local Dems! This town hall is brilliant - he excels at showing up to meet with and support blue NJ.

Trump's economy is in free fall. Trillions in savings and pension funds have been wiped out. In a few weeks, Trump will make a few headlines about cutting taxes, then the stocks will rise again. Shortly after his lackeys have invested heavily in stocks. Gifts for the few!

That’s a start.
Thanks for being part of the resistance George!
Please help support.
We need millions in DC to peacefully protest.
This is the only way this oligarchy will back down!
Spread the word everywhere you can before it’s too late.

You're right though, this would be a beautiful use for them
