The rich should be funding this for the poorest first. This stupid system allows those already with wealth to reduce their bills. I hate it. Meanwhile renters are still on coal grid electricity at over a dollar a day just for supply.

Agree. I was hoping community batteries could provide a way for renters and less privileged households to gain access to the benefits of renewables. However these seem to be used by the networks/companies to reduce their costs first. These savings may be passed along but not as direct as I'd hoped.
Also, nearly all PV+battery households also have & pay daily supply charge, as its cheaper than having overlarge batteries to supply all possible demand.
