Tell me your #BestThing of the day. Mine is a hot Friday night and all the kids in the street riding up and down the street together in a pack, hollering and shouting

I just got back from scooting to Woollies and came back around the top of the lake and saw three rabbits at least, and stopped off quickly at my favourite local sculpture.
Got ice cream with the kiddos after pick up. Both kiddos ordered the same flavour. When the younger one dropped their scoop, the older one shared their ice cream. They didn’t like the younger one being upset. I was so impressed I offered both plentiful bits of my lemon sorbet and honeycomb combo.
Managed to get some time on the PlayStation - Haven’t done any gaming for ages and killing evil monsters seemed to fit my mood. (I’ve been playing games for so long that one of child one’s early words was “monsfers” referring to the beasties in the original version of Final Fantasy VII)
Granddaughters playing in their plastic pools to cool down. A quiet walk to the park and back followed by a Frosty Fruit icypole each, dripping down their elbows as it melts in the evening heat. Bliss!❤️
I wore shorts outside and didn't care; except that I knew it was a sensible choice over trousers; and then I laughed aloud at a line in a script that surprised me; they're about even
In the supermarket and a toddler laughing and trying to run, the mum says to the dad, I'll take the trolley you go corral her and he scooped her up in his arms...there appeared to be genuine love with a sprinkling of laughter 💕
Watching a FaceTime of my daughter watering the garden and my little granddaughter running through the water spray and laughing and loving it So cute 🥰
Can I have 2, please?
1. Learning new skills at work to so I can support my revamped team better
2. Soaking up the beautiful Darwin November evening looking out over the harbour from our rooftop. The water was so still the lights reflected perfectly all the way across from the Inpex facility
I’m late but best thing that happened yesterday was my daughter waking up and calling me immediately to wish me a Happy Birthday. Of course it wasn’t my birthday yesterday but I appreciated the effort.
I promise I’ll stop posting about my kid at some point soon, I swear, but we did baby’s first Santa photo today and he got all dressed up in his little Xmas outfit and he didn’t cry. He was happy and charming and then we spent too much money on new baby clothes.
(Yes, I’m Jewish. But I have always cultivated Christmas. Never had a photo with Santa before, so this fulfilled some deep childhood stuff for me too haha).
We don’t do presents in my family. Well, not the adults anyway. I’m sure they will void this rule for baby, but it’s always been about the company and the food. I really like it that way.
Watching my 17 year old daughter and her 17 year old boyfriend playing tennis on the Wii, they are they are so funny.
Who needs to watch comedy when you can watch teens on the spectrum
Just over my back fence an elderly Khmer lady was playing with the baby (her great-grandkid, I think) and making the baby giggle uncontrollably. It was hilarious. Both were having a great time, and it made my day too.
My dog, Monkey, came in from outside carrying her back leg and wouldn't let me touch it. Suspected bee/ant bite. The relief after 1/2 hour post meloxicam/antihistamine when she was fine almost made me cry. A vet visit (I would have) would have meant no groceries for this week.
I have been conditioned to feel like an absolute failure, completely unworthy, if I need help. You simply suggesting this is more validating than you realise. Thank you.
Eating takeaway curry and watching Jurassic Park 3 *and* Jurassic World back to back with my son (he's obsessed with dinosaurs) this evening. Still pretty perky about the ICC ruling, too.
We're about to leave for a road trip to visit my father who is recovering from surgery and my sister, who has a new house. We'd normally take a train, but decided to rent a car instead, only to find out that there is a massive train strike. Lucky!

I got a pile of mulching done.
Yesterday I was thinking I was about to become homeless because I couldn't pay my rent. Today I am crying with relief
