One way of making somebody less important is not using their product because then they don’t make money from it and the money is what giving them the power
Are they also the really obvious bad decisions? Like 'splitting up to see what that noise outside is' and 'renting a cabin in the woods for hallowe'en'?

I love your posts so much. At first I followed you on Thread, but due to the unexpected announcement by Mark Zuck, I had to transfer myself to bluesky, which to my surprise turns out to be an amazing platform featuring a comprehensive set of functions same as Twitter. I hope to see more of you here😍
Only came here because of that and created my own Bluesky server and my own moderation server for it
So even if Bluesky would ever do the same move, NGO's could just create their own moderation services and users could subscribe to them
Very nice
My mod service: @moderation.braydsocial.eu
I mean, after Mark Zuckerberg decided to kiss the MAGA gorilla's butt, I decided to quit Threads although I will retain FB and IG for the meantime until Jay Graber decides to create a Facebook and Instagram rival.
Who’d have thought he’d Zuck Trump’s cøck to grow his fortune when, despite having literally hundreds of billions of dollars, and knowing right from wrong, he could afford instead to protect the happiness, safety and integrity of literally billions of people. Coward.
Yeah, what a brief, deeply disappointing ride that was. I got onto Threads when it launched and I had such high hopes. Then came the terrible moderation, the crashes and outages, the throttling of "political" content... Zuck's announcement yesterday was the last straw, and I deleted my account. 😕
Tbh everything meta has done with threads seems like the worst decision. It started off great, but then they barely updated it and now the recent changes isn't going to make anyone want to be on any of their platforms
The best thing to come from Threads (and I'm being generous) was the ability to follow accounts from other services, don't worry though they took over a year to actually release that feature to balance things out lmao
Yup lol
And there isn't even DMs on there, you have to go through Instagram for that. It's supposed to be a Twitter clone, but after a year it will feels like Twitter beta at times
Also they only started updating AFTER bluesky was taking off
Been following a project called Bridgy that's been able to check more off the standard social media checklist in a couple months and it's led by like, a dozen people meanwhile Meta employs 10s of thousands of people and can't get a checkbox to set a default feed lmao Zuck is just lost at this point.
Gonna start trying to coax my family off onto at least something like Friendica this year, it's boomer-friendly enough and I think at this point they don't care what happens, most of them chat through messaging apps.
I finally replaced my Insta icon on my phone with BlueSky icon. Not ready to delete accounts yet, but stepping away from Instagram, Threads, and Facebook. I think taking a social media break for the next four years is going to be imperative for my mental health.
I deleted my account yesterday. Also deleted Instagram account. I really do like Facebook 's groups but I'm in the process of trying to find an alternative for that. Looks like I'm going back to forums!
I still tend to get mostly wresting and memes content on Instagram, and chat to various friends through it so I’m still good with it right now.
Facebook is mainly for contact with friends, family and the various groups I’m in (mostly meme or photography/travel based). So that’ll stay for now too.
I left as soon as BlueSky got enough people, will delete my account shortly, along with the FB account. Honestly, I’m thinking of killing my Insta but I’m using it as a phone book anyway
Yeah, if Zucc gets his way. 🤦♀️ It's ironic given the whole reason Threads exists in the first place is that Meta saw an opportunity when so many people were fleeing Twitter because it'd become unbearably toxic after the Musk takeover & because people wanted to protest the far-right/MAGA-realignment.
Zuckerberg is willing to torch the Threads user experience and sacrifice the early adopters/user base by making it a more faithful clone of Twitter. He's more interested in gaining influence with the Trump admin, MAGA freaks, and other far-right bigots and fascists, than providing an "X" alternative
It's all part of the plan. Zuckerberg also wants to control masses. You may think he does it due to please administration, but no, he wants second Twitter, for himself.
zuck
3/ Change how we enforce our policies to remove the vast majority of censorship mistakes by focusing our filters on tackling illegal and high-severity violations and requiring higher confidence for our filters to take action.
zuck
4/ Bring back civic content. We're getting feedback that people want to see this content again, so we'll phase it back into Facebook, Instagram and Threads while working to keep the communities friendly and positive.
zuck
5/ Move our trust and safety and content moderation teams out of California, and our US content review to Texas. This will help remove the concern that biased employees are overly censoring content.
But before we start the Thre’xodus, we should marshall up our collective consciousness and use *community notes’* to help out Threads. It won’t be fact checked of course.

Let us rally together and spread true misinformation information 😃
I know it feels that way, but I take solace that it's probably just because, according to the new ToS, I'm 'mentally ill'. I thank meta for clarifying that for me.
I’m probably going to leave Threads soon just because it started out great, but it’s been overrun by bots and engagement bait. There’s a bot problem here rn too, but it’s not nearly as bad
5. In the interests of avoiding political bias, why don't we split up and I'll explore the basement while you look in the unusually large walk-in refrigerator?
I think there should be a law - like Godwins - to describe in mathematics - how long it takes for a social media platform go to poop based on the volume of people using it. people think just using a different platform will lead to different outcomes...
We should split up, we'll cover more ground, you, Barbie, check the basement, Jerome, check the attic, we'll meet back in five minutes, now, Freddie, Freddie, where the fork is Freddie? He's checking the garages, oh, right...cool...
I'm confused why anyone thought Threads was a good alternative in the first place. It's not like Facebook/Zuck had a good reputation up until just now.
Yet so many leapt into the arms of another megacorp. Musk was supposed to be the warning not to support another sociopathic tech bro's huge company.
Exactly - we keep falling for the same trap with these megacorps. That's why decentralized platforms like Bluesky are so crucial. Help us build something better at https://twitterexodus.org

Bad news for the entire world.

deleting the app does nothing to meta
everyone mass deleting their accounts does
It's self preservation.
At least they are making their raison d'etre inescapably visible: steal wealth and power and sabotage information to make that theft ok/invisible.
Facebook is mainly for contact with friends, family and the various groups I’m in (mostly meme or photography/travel based). So that’ll stay for now too.
1/ Replace fact-checkers with Community Notes, starting in the US.
zuck
2/ Simplify our content policies and remove restrictions on topics like immigration and gender that are out of touch with mainstream discourse.
3/ Change how we enforce our policies to remove the vast majority of censorship mistakes by focusing our filters on tackling illegal and high-severity violations and requiring higher confidence for our filters to take action.
next chapter!
