My motto for 2025 is #IWantToThinkForMyself

Surely this new video won't make me seem like a crank. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEJp...

For decades American tech giants were allowed to take advantage of Europeans due to the EU’s less-fair approach to foreign corpos operating on its soil. This stifled innovation and killed any opportunity for a European home grown alternatives to compete with the US bullies. It’s time this ends!

I can’t shake the feeling that we’re one bad market day away from another Great Depression and it’s coming soon, like before the year ends.

In the UK, the last election before World War II was in 1935, and the next didn’t take place until 1945 after the war had ended. And this was far from the only time a democratic nation postponed elections due to extreme wartime conditions.

Research shows that LGBTQ+ inclusion can drive economic activity. Open For Business’ latest report shows the economic case for LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Poland: open-for-business.org/poland

I hate modern day job interviews, they are soooo boring and only produce one specific type of hire. I understand the need to establish some technical skills but there must be a better way, or at least a way that doesn't make me want to fall asleap.

After few centuries Europe is finally getting a new Holly Roman Empress

What’s my dream job? Coming up with new recipes for HelloFresh. Unfortunately that will never pay the bills 😭

Microsoft's big quantum gamble pays off: they were harder to build (and about as hard to understand!) but Microsoft's topological qubits are more effective, easier to control - and will probably help design their own replacements.

Walking out of a Nazi bar because you don’t want to hang out with Nazis is not bad.

What works for workplace equality: standardized hiring processes, pay equity commitments, recruiting from non-Ivy League schools. Successful DEI is win-win, creating better outcomes for everybody. Focus on that communal aspect to build stronger coalitions. www.vox.com/policy/39995...

London’s super sewer is now fully connected. This important milestone will result in a huge reduction in sewage in the tidal Thames. There’s still more work to do—I’m determined to make our rivers cleaner so that more Londoners can enjoy nature as we continue to build a greener city.

Imagine a place where everyone is free to be who they want to be and love who they want to love. That’s London. In these uncertain times, please know that you will always be loved and wanted in our city.

Post-pandemic, fitness clubs have emerged as the best place to find romance IRL. No profile required.

When a woman met a cardiologist on Hinge, she had no way to know that Match Group had received 2 reports accusing him of rape. The only thing that got him off the Match apps was his arrest. By then 15 women reported he had raped or drugged them. 19thnews.org/2025/02/dati...

After reading this review by Emily H. Wilson, I sat in my car and wept happy tears. "a new and spellbinding book" "must-read, millennia-spanning history" I'm speechless with gratitude and pure joy. www.newscientist.com/article/mg26...

No, we don't want terrible US food standards here! #PublicHealth #PoisonedPlanet www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Apple is launching a new clinical study. This one is interesting from a research POV b/c there’s no specific goal other than to find new connections between previously disparate data sets. (1/) https://www.theverge.com/news/610308/apple-health-study-wearables-iphone-apple-watch-airpods

When the rules of the democratic game become bitterly contested, this doesn’t mean your democracy is going to collapse. It can feel terrifying if you are used to stabler times, but democracies have faced crises throughout history, and survived.

“It can’t happen here,” they say. But I’m not so sure. We know Elon Musk has developed a keen interest in British politics and might gladly fund Nigel Farage/Richard Tice/Tommy Robinson to have a go at wreaking the same kind of chaos, writes @arusbridger. www.prospectmagazine...

If you’re not concerned about the environment, oil & gas increase the price of energy at home and at the pump. The more our energy features these fuels, the more you will pay as a consumer. You should DEMAND the government to reduce their usage so your prices go down.

A must read thread! Moderating an online space without AI is impossible unless you have an army of people that have no emotions or empathy. Without these tools we might as well close down the Internet (and by close I mean make it read only for most people and require a license for posting).

If we don’t teach our children sarcasm, they’ll pick it up from somewhere else and they might learn it incorrectly.
