Some of us have a Tesla, bought YEARs ago and selling it isn’t an option for many of us. Elon had such promise, it makes us mad. Can’t afford to sell it it’s paid off. At least the gas giants aren’t getting my money. I wouldn’t buy one again. Will have it serviced but not at Tesla again.

I can relate. I almost bought one several years back, but went with the EV6 instead. I bought that used, as I would have with the Tesla, but I bought it when the prices were still crazy high. On the upside, I sold one of my two leafs as the same time and got pretty close to what I paid for it.

But, as I said I can relate, as I had to stop working due to being sick, and I considered selling that to save money, but the hit on the $$ is just too much. The only thing I would have to do if i had one, as the other person said, was to put a bumper sticker on it and don't use the super chargers.

You remind me that (IMO) there is a big difference in someone buying a Tesla in 2015 and someone buying a Cybertruck in 2025. It can seem edgy and cool on social media to talk about burning everything, regardless, but people need some humility when they engage with Overton windows.

Totally agree. But I think so much is being directed at Tesla because it is a painfully obvious target of all the bad we see happening. As much as I was talking up a year ago how much of a disaster it would be if we let that criminal trump win again, I never would have predicted Musk becoming a nazi

It would be easier to spot Musk's fash tendencies with a lens of anticolonialism and labor rights. His family got rich off the South African Apartheid. He once tweeted "Cry about it" responding to cobalt mining in South America.

I recommend Frantz Fanon's "A Dying Colonialism".

Your local organisers will likely have a group chat on the signal messaging app for planning. Use that app whenever possible, instead of relying on traditional texts, emails, or any META platforms.

You are assuming I know how to find them. I have no clue who is organizing what, where and how to find them. I think more people would turn out if we could find out ahead of time. Someone posted the 50501 website on FB. So now I can follow them. But my state capital is a 6 hour drive.

A good way to find local organisers is to show up to relevant events. Not just protesting, but local needs being filled by volunteers. Exchanging contacts with these kinds of people may be the start of your own group!

Conflicting information with fascists dog whistles on their official reddit page and a lack of transparency on the frontend is unsafe and messy. A reactionary Trump focus =/= understanding of our political climate. Sorry, but I'm too far left to confidently endorse that strategy.

And how do I find out about local events before they happen? I check FB and BS multiple times/day. I follow Women’s March. I follow Indivisible. I see after-the fact videos, but never before the fact. At this point, I am following any group I can find in the hope of identifying local protests.

In my experience, and regrettably, Instagram is often used by organizers. (Unfortunately). When none of my organizing contacts knew about nor vouched for 50501, that was a red flag.

If you have a local Democratic Socialists of America chapter, you can treat them as a starting hub for events.

Absolutely. There's a misunderstood quote from LAPD (IIRC). "We can handle a 10,000 person protest. We can't handle 10 1,000 people protests." People think this is an excuse to justify decentralising, but it's the opposite. That requires cohesive collaborating among different groups.

Depends what you're uniting under. If it's fighting MAGA, it's missing the fascism underlying typical US politics, even when democrats are in office. If you organise around labour rights, you get closer to treating the cause and not the symptom.
