boundaries are lines that define what you wouldn't like others to do to you (for example : if you don't like people raising their voice at you, you have to tell them and defend yourself when they cross that line)
I think part of the sad reality is that a lot of guys don't even think about setting boundaries for themselves. The messaging we get as boys is less of "ask yourself how you want to engage with someone else" and more of "be someone people want to engage with".
