I think it just shows they were probably transphobic to begin with because I don't even think it makes sense like "practically" speaking. Dems didn't really campaign on trans rights much at all, and never have. They are just eating the propaganda the Republicans put out.

From what I could tell the Dems did everything they could to avoid trans issues and topics entirely. Kamala Harris firmly refused to defend them when out to repeated questions.

So yeah, it's just liberals offering up another marginalized group as sacrifice instead of improving lives to win votes.

This feels true to me. Instead of supporting trans rights and countering the lies and myths around what being trans is, they buckled and dodged. Though to be fair, it’s an important issue among countless important issues, and many voters clock out with complexity/subtlety/grey lines

The over-reaction is bad, but how do they win elections because it seems like you can’t have a message of social acceptance while trying to win the middle/working class. I don’t envy anyone trying to strategize for midterms or 2028.
