Took me a bit but I've found the framing to put into words a way to express to the people fretting about the death of the UHC CEO why we just aren't heeding their admonishment:

No, but seriously. Dude did terrible and fatal things to people in need of help. He made his choice and faced the consequences. I don't think the world is worse without him.
When one knows it is not fairly applied *and* one loses the fear of consequences, one brings into existence a new, reverse-directionally-violent social contract.
