Firmly in the “It’s awesome” camp now. We let CinemaSins take too much of a hold of our culture, this is just so theatrical and cool. Of course Batman would do this, he’s Batman

I remember being baffled by the lukewarm/negative reception. There's plenty of goofy shit in Begins and TDK, plus it's the end of a trilogy of course it's gonna go big and blow things out.
Despite my handful of issues with this movie the complaint of “how was Batman able to sneak into Gotham without being caught?” might actually be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
The movie already goes on for too long, we do not need to be shown how BATMAN can sneak into his own city.
my sick little acab heart will always think the movie (and the trilogy as a whole) would have worked way better if bats came back and fought on the side of the freed arkham inmates while bane radicalized the cops to his side, but as piece of deeply unserious superhero cinema, i must defend TDKR.
it makes more thematic sense for bane to represent totalitarian law and order and it'd make for a more satisfying career arc for batman to take michael clarke duncan's dark knight heroism to heart and side with "the bad guys" for the soul of gotham. most importantly, it would align with my politics.
My film philosophy switched over from a one-out-of-five scale to Scott Wampler's (RIP) "IT RIPS!" to "That One Gif of Willem Dafoe Smirking with Insane Glee"....All I want is a movie to delight me a little at this point. Let them be silly little guys. I just want a touch of bonkers in every movie.
"As Batman, I famously don't put a lot of stock in the power of symbols or a signal that tells criminals (a cowardly, superstitious lot) that "da Bat" is on the clock and could be lurking in any shadow."
