Log in to your online Social Security account (or make one, if you haven't yet). Go to your earnings record. AT the bottom you'll see how much you (and employers) have paid in so far. It's your money. Elon is trying to steal from YOU.

I've earned well enough that imo I should've paid in MORE to Social Security. But there's a cap on how much of anyone's earnings require social security deductions. So billionaires pay no more in than you do. Raising that cap (and/or the retirement age slightly) would keep SS solvent forever.
Agree that would be a simple solution. But it sounds like these thieves don’t want that, they want to tear it down. It’s been said that messing with Social Security is the third rail of politics. It had better be. I’ve been drawing for several years but now they want to wipe out my life’s work:
Occam's razor...dramatically raising (or better yet, eliminating) the cap is the obvious, simplest—and incidentally— the fairest way to fix SSA. Why should a low- to moderate-income worker pay on 100% of his/her earnings when billionaires like Musk, et al essentially cap out on Jan 1?
IMO they should keep cap up to like $5m income. Then after that, raise it. Otherwise you “tax” high income earners in blue cities whose $ doesn’t go as far & who you want to have disposable income to spend into economy. Folks above that range don’t feel small increase & don’t spend it anyway.
I also suggest that you download, print out ALL pertinent info - earnings, benefits, monthly payouts etc etc. This way, if SS is taken down, you have your info.
I made a copy of all my SS data last week just in case it’s erased and the databases have to be rebuilt. Where else am I going to get data that goes back to 1966 when I had my first job at 16!
We're (Dems) extremely bad at getting in front of anything that is staring us in the face.
This whole "let it happen, then spend billions of dollars and several years tying it up in litigation" is exactly what they want, and pretty much exactly what is delivered. Over and over and over.

For years I made enough to hit the cap around September each year. Even I thought the cap was idiotic.

But if Elon thinks I don't deserve it, well then, who am I to argue.
