Yes, they are authentic. They show colors and details the eye cannot perceive, but they are directly based on real data.

The size of features in that incredible view of JWST are hard to fathom. Using scale bar in the annotated version as a baseline, I've added another scale indicator with a few (rough) markers for things in our own neighbourhood. Those 'pillars' are *enormous*! (Will Gather)
