Another understated bird, the male Black-crested Coquette hummingbird at @tapirvalley.bsky.social #CostaRica #birds #nature #hummingbirds 🌿

We are way past impeachment time

You know they when we fuck with their money. Target is feeling the effects of boycotts. Why not El Salvador and the folks that do business there?

I am calling for a total and complete shutdown of detainees being removed from the United States to foreign prisons until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on.

No American can afford to ignore the systematic erosion of what it means to be American. We are way past political and ideological disagreements. What’s at stake is our adherence to the Constitution and rule of law. What safeguards all of our rights. Without it, we cease to be America.

We haven’t reached bottom yet. Because there is no bottom to his moral depravity.

It is legally impossible to deport citizens. This is not deportation. Removing citizens to foreign prisons, knowing to a certainty that they will be subjected to treatment that violates the U.S. constitution, doesn’t deserve any label that connotes legal legitimacy.

The president of the United States and the president of El Salvador have conspired to kidnap a man and hold him hostage in an El Salvador prison. This criminality ignores the rule of law and thumbs its nose at a Supreme Court ruling to facilitate his return.

Uhhhh....uhhhh...uh! WTF? My head is already exploding at these barely 90 days of horror of daily disasters of lawlessness and destruction. But Rip-Van-Winkling these folks for FUN? "Wake up and Smell The Shit-Storm...Weather's Unliveable!" www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/g...

Fantastic sign.

Fitting right into the gap the Roberts Court helpfully provided

Even if you support tariffs, it is completely insane and self-defeating to have tariff rates & exemptions changing almost daily on presidential whim. Business investment is paralyzed, as are consumers. No revenue will be raised. This is why tariffs should be set by legislation. Wake up Congress.

El Salvador is a contractor providing the United States with a paid service. The idea that we couldn’t get anyone they’re holding back with the snap of a finger just by asking is so ludicrous on its face, it seems less like a real excuse and more like a test of how much shit the courts will eat.

Even by the most expansively limp definition of “facilitate” Trump admin is flagrantly defying the Supreme Court by aggressively obstructing the return of a lawlessly kidnapped and deported man.

The three women pictured in this incredible photograph from 1885 -- Anandibai Joshi of India, Keiko Okami of Japan, and Sabat Islambouli of Syria -- each became the first licensed female doctors in their respective countries.

The U.S. says it doesn’t have the power to return Abrego Garcia. El Salvador also says it doesn’t have the power to return Abrego Garcia. It’s obvious bullshit and depraved to the core.

going to need to start hearing from governors what they intend to do to protect residents of their states from the federal government

The president told a Central American dictator to build five more massive slave labor camps to hold US citizens.

Feeling very bleak today. If what our government did to Abrego stands, Americans are a polity under an authoritarian regime. Abrego could be any of us, and I don't quite know where we go from there.

I blame Chief Justice Roberts. He clearly has no idea who he is dealing with in Trump. He is allowing Alito and Thomas to frog-march America into full-blown fascism. The April 10 SCOTUS order was an abomination—and I and many others _instantly_ saw (and said) that it would lead us where we are now.

Tattooing only became legal in Massachusetts in 2001 when the ACLU successfully challenged the ban in court. The ruling recognized tattoos as First Amendment protected expression, just like paintings, drawings, and other art forms.

Remove this THING from office

Nobody-- nobody-- could research 500 years of international law, the ancient roots of the common law, and all of American history in three months and magically have answers about the nuances and contours of birthright citizenship that somehow evaded dozens of scholars for decades. It's laughable.

The Case Zablocki Act literally requires the text of any agreements the executive branch enters into with foreign states to be PUBLISHED ON THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE WEBSITE within 120 days of going into effect (thanks, @bcfinucane.bsky.social for the reference!) www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/...

The overarching effect they are going for, all of them, is terror. They want to discourage brown people from immigrating. Ever. It’s what all of them want. Miller may be the most outspoken, but they are all on board with it.

No administration in American history, not Jackson w/ Indian removal, not Lincoln in Merryman, not FDR over the New Deal, not Truman in Youngstown, not Nixon over the tapes, not Bush with Guantanamo, has openly defied a court order like this, much less one unanimously endorsed by the Supreme Court.

Some of our fun finds volunteering yesterday. I swear nature hikes are keeping me sane right now. So thankful the insects are back in full force. #texasmasternaturalist #arthropods #beetles #insects #bugs #iNaturalist #iNat #setx

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday, enjoy what’s left of it #bluesky Here’s an old photo from a good few years ago. I think this was taken in Hunstanton.

There is something about you… If I knew what it was… I would tell scientists to invent a cure to forget everything about you… But here I am… Without a cure… 📷 last Sunday…

This right here 🔥 “If there was market manipulation, it is a crime. Someone needs to go to jail… I want the documents. I want the Signal chats too, because I don’t trust them — that they weren’t sharing all this information across their Signal chats.” – @repstevenhorsford.bsky.social

Take a break and look at some brand spankin' new kitties: #caturday

Booker: "This isn't just about Mr. Garcia. This is about every American understanding that this president is making an assault on the due process rights that are afforded to people in our country ... you cannot disappear people off American streets."

There are times—rare, one hopes—when the government acts so evasively/irregularly that courts must break out of their routines in response. This happened during the civil rights era, in cases like Terry v. Adams, Bell v. Md, Shelley v. Kraemer, Griffin v. Prince Edward Cty. Time to get creative.

Another lovely hummingbird, the Crowned Woodnymph. These have a large range through Central and South America. #birds #nature #colombia #hummingbirds 🌿
