Actually his error was in his belief that good policy could unite the nation. But as I reiterated, over and over, on Twitter during the early days of his administration--the nation will never, never unite if he doesn't address the problem of our fragmented information space.

I think what killed the democrats was 2 fold. 1). An economy that was doing well enough that non-typical voters stayed home with a media machine constantly telling people things were bad, when the could be worse. 2) Democratic leadership that didn’t want to change to fit the landscape.
