"The only people who are skeptical haven't tried it" says Musk of Tesla's "Full Self-Driving," a lie that can be falsified with a perfunctory YouTube search

"if someone has full self-driving on or not, the safety difference is gigantic"
this safety claim, and Tesla's entire statistical rubric for making it, has been widely debunked for failing to control for known factors like road type, driver age, etc
Musk says Tesla is only doing driverless deployment in Austin this June because it's "dipping a toe in" to make sure it's safe, but the system still works everywhere. It's still a general solution, but they are only operating driverlessly in one place. Because safety. This all makes sense.
There are Teslas all over America (indeed all around the world) with no-one in them. Parked in abandoned mall parking lots, empty fields and disused airfields.

I would fucking pay money to see Elon Musk sit in a Cybertruck or whatever driven by his AI around a busy city with a camera locked on his face and his pulse monitored.
Before we sold our Model 3, it had a total drive unit failure, which was replaced under warranty. I had a 2023 loaner w/FSD for a week. Frankly, I was shocked at how bad it was, and I tried to go in with an open mind.
Just competent enough to be really dangerous. Like someone just learning to drive
Yea his chauffeur hasn’t had a problem. My Tesla Y trying FSD in SF Bay Area was terrifying. Fanbois with YouTube videos don’t count. Tesla FSD leads all left, Robotaxis require remote human intervention every 1-2 miles. Now Land Rover owner with reliable lane deviation warnings

the more Elon says this stuff, the more awkwardly he expresses it, it's really something

Automated vehicles? In a factory? Well, I never.
Elon Musk makes this sound like a terrifying threat
AUSTIN PEDESTRIAN RUNDOWN AND KILLED BY DRIVERLESS TESLA
$TSLA
This could be a case of the dog that caught the car though. I think it’ll be a shit show that rocks people’s confidence in FSD and Tesla.
Oh wait.

It has been almost a decade since Elon claimed it would be here “by the end of the year.”
I would wager he is planning to use a geo-fenced area of Austin with HD maps which replicates something like Waymo just so he can claim progress.
