Also, continuing to own a Tesla does help Tesla's revenue unless you swear off Superchargers, never get into a minor collision, and use independent shops for all non-warranty service. For most people it's easier to stop buying candy rather than looking at it every day and never eating it.

You should really read about the last 2 years of history on Tesla's Supercharger network. The short summary: other networks were struggling; the Biden infrastructure bill was meant to fix that and solidify CCS1 as the charging standard; so Musk flipped the table and baited Ford with access.

I really question J3400's future if Tesla sales decline. Hyundai is the only company putting J3400 on their cars, Mercedes is adding both ports and GM/Ford have pushed native J3400 off (was supposed to be on 2025 models). I never liked one plug for all power levels on principle alone.

selling helps too, you just have to understand how auto loan/lease financing works. In theory having your Tesla destroyed by some act of god and getting the insurance claim paid out helps similarly, but that would take a lot of luck.

Markets for housing and used cars are interesting because there are a huge number of units out there but only a very small fraction on the market at any one time. A small number of principled antifacists can move Tesla prices as much as small number of rich college students can move rental prices.

And when buying replacement parts, ask about aftermarket parts, which aren't made by Tesla but will usually have equivalent or better quality at a lower price. The automotive aftermarket is dynamic and hungry, so there should be options.

There are also good deals on the used market. I’m seeing Ioniq5, Ariya, EV6, etc available under $30k with moderate mileage and good options. And not everyone needs the top specs. We traded our 3 for a Kia NiroEV for $15k after the $4k rebate and aside from road tripping, it’s a great vehicle

Do all of those things, but selling your Tesla also drives down the resale value, which hurts Tesla's ability to get financing and lease deals that help them sell new cars. It's a little convoluted, but banks use resale estimates to lend that money, and if resale goes down faster they cut Tesla off

As pointed out in previous comments, mass selloff lowers brand value & impacts banks willingness to lend money to Tesla. We saw this w/ VW 10 years ago, dieselgate nearly sank them and it was years before used VW prices recovered.
