enduring another onslaught of appeals to "buy local" and "shop Canadian/Indigenous" & am begging everyone to consider other ways to support their local communities and economies besides consumerism! use your imagination!!

e.g., donating money directly to organizations & causes in your community; political organizing and advocacy; standing with local First Nations; putting your money in local credit unions rather than big banks; volunteering; stocking a community fridge
as a person who inhabits reality I'm aware of the fact that everyone needs to buy things (food for my cat, diapers for my baby), and I support & participate in boycotts. however, I think "shop local" is a pretty uninspired form of political action and I simply urge people to think a bit bigger
