This bleeds into my thoughts about The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village, which I embarrassingly enjoy with my family. But there is nothing there taking on Ford's Nazism there. Nothing like Monticello's attempts to ground history.

Now that the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz is over, can we talk about how it’s Bad that the place is maintained as a tourist site (as opposed to a crater with a sign next to it)

Heck — only the Henry Ford museum confronts the KKK like they do.
I do draw the line at going to Fairlane. There is zero reason to go.
He was a piece of shit but there’s some terrific history in the museum.
I tend to tell myself “that fuck is dead. He doesn’t benefit from me going there”.
Would prefer if they just scraped his name from the museum.
Give it 50 years and how people will be able to say their parent(s) or family members were involved in the Holocaust?
Living memory is important, but so are the pieces that will live beyond that.
