I feel like Canada needs to start taking refugees from the United States. People who are fleeing political persecution like the Russian scientist Kseniia who is in danger of being deported to Russia where she will be in grave danger. A lot of Canadians won’t want this since they’ve been exposed to the same anti immigration propaganda of recent years but to me it makes sense so that their families in the US & their lawyers can still reach them but they don’t have to be locked up. Remember these are working members of society.

Canadian provincial govt’s are already making offers to nurses and other US professionals for a fast track to jobs in Canada. I don’t think Canadians would mind helping scholars and journalists.

I get the idea of wanting to take in 'useful' people.. but then it's just the same ole same ole.. the poor and underprivileged gotta do the fighting. I mean it's our problem.. but if history is any indicator, lpts of people will be disappeared long before a resistance can take shape.

Not every Kamal voter is in need or will qualify as a refugee, nor should they. I'm talking about refugees like trans people, disabled ppl, & those who are likely to be jailed for their political activism. Most Kamala voters don't fall into those categories.

So as I just learned we have something called the Safe Third Country Agreement which says that Canada & US are equally safe & whichever country you end up in first is safe enough (don’t quote me go google it but that’s my simple understanding). So we can’t take asylum seekers.

Like the US did in WW2, they expedited the scientific community of Europe to help their causes and helped the US become the world’s powerhouse. If we do the same, then Canada can become the next world leading apex super power. Wouldn’t THAT be nice? Then everyone would be ‘soorry’
