I think it has a lot in common with Falling Down: successful but unhappy white guy who inexplicably thinks they're the victim goes on a petulant rampage. Both movies get weird when they suggest that they people being rampaged on actually have it coming because they're annoying
See God Bless America (2011) as well. A thin veneer of cultural critique ("this is commentary on America!") over what are ultimately petty aesthetic grievances.
It was enjoyable but not in any mindblowing way like people kept claiming. They somehow managed to be as irritating as the Death of Stalin fans though.
"Poor Things" I liked it, but there is no one that I could say to, oh yeah, you have to see it. They probably would never talk to me again, but I don't mind my viewing a bit out there 🤣
I kinda feel that way about all the Yorgos movies. Definitely not for people who don't enjoy some weird cinema. I often like them, but nowhere near as much as the people who reeeeeeally like them.

Just did a little RT and Letterboxd check (clearly, I have too much time).
For RT, The Menu wins critical consensus (although Jojo wins the Popcornmeter by a landslide).
On LB, The Menu has a 3.5, JJR sits at 4.
Either way, I think The Menu is fine and Jojo is offensive garbage
