both my parents after the separation ended up falling in love with people far away (from a 45 min drive to 1h 30/2h drive) so we'd spend the weekend at their place, it was hell, I mostly isolated and gamed as it was the only constant leading to years alone.

Not vacations, but I had a melt down at the end of ever single school year till I was about 10 as I couldn't cope with the idea of having a different teacher the next year! Still took me another couple decades to go "hang on"...
