also me wearing multiple layers with a proper jacket??? so fucking good. i was so cozy that by the time i got to work i was very sweaty despite it being still 50 degrees out. i feel fucking great
I especially love having a good outer shell jacket that is just a shell, especially if it has the armpit vents, for summer riding as well.
Winning on both sides, really.
With the train we get a 5 mile ride, riding the train for 40-ish minutes, followed by a 10 mile ride. I've heard of worse, but I think the car trip of 45 minutes is the most practical to have somewhat of an evening. Planning on moving closer to work soonish since the new job came after the move.
i do a basically that except it's followed by 15 miles. i tell you what, it's significantly better for my mental health and my day! way more fun to get the exercise
I'll give it a shot in the spring. I probably should be in better shape before winter biking. ORD winters are no joke. Thanks for the gentle encouragement Ms. Tightpussy 🙏
Please stop bragging I know exactly how nice it is blazing past morning traffic in the unprotected bike lane but unfortunately now I am the morning traffic.
oh, true, that does help. it just adds time (i ride a motorcycle most days so I can skip traffic) I should try that one day, I haven't been using my ebike much since I bought a fixed gear. I'd probably kill the battery on the way home though
i don't think people appreciate that driving is inherently antisocial. can't appreciate what you're missing and the psychic damage from driving if it's all you know.
As a semi related aside, I feel like this can also be achieved with motorcycles/mopeds and small, low horsepower convertibles like the Suzuki Cappuccino and the Geo Metro. A thing I see a lot here is people on motorcycles riding next to eachother in the lane so they can have a conversation.
The reason I specify small convertibles instead of like, a new 2025 mustang is because there's less car between you and the person you want to yap to. It's just less work for everyone involved, plus the extra lane space you don't take up at stop lights can be used by motorcycles and bikes.
It's the one thing I miss about having to go to the office. I stopped for a while before we went wfh (Thanks, guy who right hooked me) but I really do miss it. It was so fun, and also, Katie...my thighs..
i have a crank theory that road rage is a thing because humans evolved a million little verbal and non-verbal ways to say “oops! sorry, i didn’t mean to do that” but if you’re driving a car that entire language is silenced

(I had to push through a 30k headwind, which is probably why)
Winning on both sides, really.
Only time complimenting a bike has backfired and put me in a position to buy a litespeed out of guilt.
I don't have any titanium bikes right now though. 🤔
