In a few months when people wonder how Elon Musk developed such an outsize influence over British politics, it’ll be worth noting the contribution of push notifications like this from the national broadcaster.

Why is every brain fart out of his own lane repeated in the media as if it is something worth listening to?
Ok so he flooded Trump's campaign with money. Is that it? Is that the qualification? What makes his thoughts on any other country qualify for amplification?
It's already been a few months, as capital interests amplify the world's most overvalued man just as he and his platform enables and normalizes the intimidating fascism required for his minority control.
Donie, look at their main page and IMHOP three of these 'stories' should never be on a news page - Musk/Meghan and that chinese lady one ... thats how downgraded media has become world wide, Murdoch has so much to blame
So true, I watched the BBC news this evening and they spent far too long on this. This is not news and the UK government should try to do something about a non UK citizen interfering in UK politics. However, CNN have done worse with their coverage in the US.
Unfortunately it seems to be happening in the UK as well. We are not quite at a Faux News level but as a large percentage of people get news online they are impacted by the same online silos.
Honestly who gives a toss what Elmo thinks? The inanity of sharing his mental meanderings is beyond me. He blew $44bn to have a platform. Leave it all there
Who the heck does Musk think he is. So what you’re wealthy. You don’t help anyone in need with that wealth and stick your nose into every country’s political business. Can’t stand him or Trump 😔
I think it may backfire. If Musk was smarter he'd pull the strings behind the scenes and let the local fascists be the front-men for his regime change. But he's a megalomaniac who is drunk on his own power & believes he can change the world with a tweet.
In the case of our election it was a combo of tweets and hundreds of millions of dollars. I can’t blame him for thinking it would work again when he’s 1-0.
I’m sure in the minds they’d already divided it up. The way he’s going he’ll be full Nazi in 4 years. Trump better watch his back - Musk is a fair weather friend (or buddy 🙄)
But for all his money and support, Trump barely squeaked a win. Trying to repeat the process is different political contexts is a more difficult proposition.
Plus many Euro countries use PR election systems (small parties that make coalition govts).
And far-right vote usually max 25-30%.
Not saying that his money and influence can't make a difference or can't swing an election in a different country. Particularly if he co-ordinates official US govt pressure to destabilise a society.
But his one-size-fits all approach has problems working outside the USA.
I’m not saying it will be easy. But the part about him thinking one tweet will change the world was greatly underestimating him. He’ll do a lot more than tweet.
Absolutely. Thing is that other countries don't deify the superrich like in the US. Most people think they're pr**ks. And outside interference from the US gets people's backs up and triggers nationalism.
His support may hurt the local fascists electoral chances.
Giusto, ma il punto è: perché diamine ad ogni suo respiro su X deve uscire una "breaking news"? Poi si chiedono perché ha tanta influenza sull'opinione pubblica
That’s how we got Brexit, too, with the BBC pandering to multi-times electoral failure Farage and plastering his toad-faced mug all over their political programmes, to the detriment of actual, elected MPs. Now Musk is flavour of the day 🤮

It’s scary to realize he means Nigel isn’t bigoted ENOUGH
They all need to stop it and ignore the bollix.
bolshevik

What's truly terrifying is he might well be able to buy the UK. And the EU. And whatever else pops into his ketamine-addled skull.
Very few journalists reported the truth and the gravity of what was happening.
Say it louder for the people in the back!

But when people do focus on him (and criticize him) he whines like a 3 year old that people are being mean. Just like Trump.
His support may hurt the local fascists electoral chances.
