I just wrote a Substack on Blue Cross's awful decision to deny ins health coverage for anesthesia for surgeries that run long. This goes beyond the usual coverage denial stuff because the denials are for medical procedures they've already deemed medically necessary. https://open.substack.com/pub/mirandayaver/p/anthem-blue-cross-denies-anesthesia?r=4j0g0&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

They are one of the many industries that profit from you being sick.....but if too sick or jeopardize their profit, you can just die
I hate the health care industry 🤬
Anthem's policy change is that they'll follow CMS Physician Work Time values for determining length of procedure
CMS aka Medicare
Insurance cos are no angels, but hospital admins are much worse (PBMs are the Devil, though)
"Doctor good Insurance bad" is a myth
That is not what they said.
It is way too easy to read this as "surgery" and not the entirety of prep, surgery and post anesthesia supervision.
Insurance companies suck but they also have duty to stop over billing.
You can't be reactionary and jump on MD society press release
It is completely fine.
