I think it's irresponsible not to be paying attention to the news during fascist times. But if you pay attention, your heart breaks ten times an hour & you can barely function.

Maureen, I am so with you. I am finding myself looking for inspiration in the times I'm not paying attention to the news. It's a cycle that feeds and nurtures. This is for me listening to inspiring music and reading good books. And, of course, action!
Once a day, Reuters, AP, BBC, and not much more. Honestly, NOT social media. I have never agreed that Twitter or any other social media platform was all that helpful when it came to resistance. And the addictive nature of the apps only adds to the anxiety. I also hated being that person 1/2
who was posting the news as if nobody else was paying attention. I came off like a zealot, and I'm sure it was condescending. Plus, I never saw positive results from my behavior. I'm afraid the ones leading the right know very well how much control they can have over us if we are in constant fear.
I'm glad you've figured out your approach. I think everyone has to figure out what is right for them and try to make it work with their own sanity. Even if I don't look to see what is happening, the weight of it is constant. Limiting my consumption of news actually doesn't make me feel better.
Agreed. It also helps to focus some of your attention on the daily things of life, as well as your art or hobbies. It keeps you in better health to be able to handle what you can and need to. I just know my tendency to become preachy about my passions, and I don't want to be that person anymore.
