I think both are reasonable paths, but in the USA there's too much emphasis on the university path.
Highschools should devote more resources to kids who want to pursue a trade after graduation.

I believe in college. Learning how to learn, IMO, is a critical life skill. Being exposed to people of different backgrounds, makes yiu wiser
