Just like the Native Americans have warned us and well Americans just won’t do it. I’ve always felt that the last extinction was the ice age and ours will be a fire age.
Unfortunately since it’s very clear humans will not do the necessary thing like banning any and all micro plastics and trying to cut down on methane. To quote George Carlin the planet will be fine. We the human species are severely fucked. After we are gone the planet will correct itself.
Context for the youngins: FF7 released in 1997, when preserving the environment was obvious and uncontroversial. The Right didn't go pro-apocalypse until after the 2000 election, after which Al Gore inadvertently politicized Earth preservation.
Personally my all time favorite. It was my first real rpg and now that’s the core of my gameplay. Now if they could just add a couple more hours to each day so I can get through my backlog.
Hate always exists and will always exist. Nothing to do to stop it. What we as a society has to do is to make it so that it is so socially unacceptable that no one cares to admit to it.
In FF7 the plot was that the energy source used was the planet's lifestream (as in everything alive is born from it and returns to it upon death), so using it up for convenience was literally removing life from the planet.
Saying that the environment will "die" isn't like, literally technically true, but it's still true insofar as it's a true metaphor about what will happen. 🤷
The "planet" has been here 4 billion years without us and it has done just fine. You might want to consider adapting to potential change and your habits...

A) I think the humans are already toast, and
B) the planet will be just fine. Evolution will take care of the animals and plants. It’s just the humans who are doomed.
