I keep getting corrected by randoms for calling the parade stumblestep “malicious noncompliance” rather than “malicious compliance” bc while they see participation as compliance I see shuffling not marching as noncompliance. But what I really think it means is I am an incomprehensible perfectionist.

The first thing I noticed is they were just walking, in fatigues
That makes sense. If you prioritize "the boss said so" over "but the actual facts", in any technical field, then you get bad results. In the military, "bad results" can have high stakes, such as "friendly fire" accidents and so forth. I was in a group trading stupid boss stories; the worst...
story came from a veteran whose boss was stuck on a plan of capturing Grenadan soldiers in their barracks. Boss didn't want to hear "but what if they're already entrenched", nor any other contradiction of his plan. When US forces landed, the enemy was indeed already entrenched. Worst boss ever!
And we never walked during the parade route. EVER. If you get sick, you keep going or you fall out.
And that was band, not the army in front of POTUS, lol.
A comma, right after "means", would make that sentence perfect! It's just too bad, that you can't edit after posting.
