starting to think it might be bad that the industry at large is producing only two types of games: load-bearing AAAAAs with 5-10 year development cycles that need to make a billion dollars to not be seen as a failure, and predatory dark-pattern live games that…also need to make a billion dollars

The problem is that an isometric RPG should not cost $200M.
Fuck, no game should cost $200M, unless it's a sports game you know will sell 50M copies and you need to spend that on NIL rights.
But of course there’s a sect of gamers/execs who will blame this game’s inclusivity, (which was one of the best parts about it) and just ignore that BG3 exists
I am DROWNING in games I genuinely am dying to play. Too MANY of them! It doesn't stop!
I love finding a new Indie game that gives me that joy of discovery I had as a kid.
I’d probably have dropped gaming after 40+ years.
