There are some incredible behind the scenes shots of her final form, and it turns out part of the answer is dozens upon dozens of well-concealed wires being manipulated by puppeteers off-screen.

imo Biollante is probably the most beautiful Godzilla movie. I’ll never get over those shots of her in the lake. And all her forms are gorgeous but the final one is so gnarly and weird within the canon that it was only surpassed by Shin Godzilla

There were some middling flicks in the Heisei era for sure, but I always adored the design of Destroyah, especially her earlier crustacean forms. Her final bipedal form was great, but I loved her development over the course of that film.

I get annoyed generally at people who dismiss old films and TV because of visual effects that haven't aged well. Especially in old sci-fi. It's an incredibly superficial reason to dismiss often fantastic storytelling that at the time seemed impossible to film.
