Since everyone’s finding old and new friends, take a moment to read my story, I’m a 32yo polio survivor because I was not vaccinated. Pass on my story, repeat it, tell it to any vaccine hesitate parent. No kid deserves vaccine preventable diseases

Reading all of these today is reminding me of Dad. He was a polio survivor - and now I know why he was always cold.
Thanks for your advocacy - he was involved in a post-polio study when he got older, think it was his way of helping.
My grandfather had polio at 2 years old and was on crutches or a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
I remember, as a young child, waiting in line for the vaccine (in a sugar cube), and my mom saying how my grandfather was frantic to make sure we got it.
3 other kids they knew got polio. One passed. Another was disabled. Not good odds.
Thank you for sharing your story.
Ben, I think stories like hers are something people need to hear.🫶🏼
Exposed as a child on a Res. Went to a 3 sport letterman @ Oregon, enlist for Vietnam and become a Green Baret. His father became an Exec at Hughes
Great man.
Soo sad to see such a vital man weakened so quickly.
Take care
Vaccines are critical.
Today’s parents don’t have a clue about the terrible diseases that were brought under control by the miracle of vaccines.
That’s very recent for polio.
I guess your parents were jehova ??
overnight hospitalization. half my face didn’t work for months. i had to tape my eyelid closed so my eye wouldn’t dry out. a month of vertigo.
trying to prevent preventable diseases is good, actually.
if even "just" chickenpox can do this, imagine what other diseases can do.

My mom couldn't smile fully due to paralysis from her childhood case of polio. Reading your article, I have to wonder what else she dealt with that we didn't realize was related.

The book also describes how Sabin tested his vaccine on children in the USSR. This is a very readable, exciting book.
We 3 got the Salk shots as soon as available. Don't recall if parents got them too. A few years later the Sabin sugar cube. Both were welcomed with hallelujahs.
Thank you for telling your story. Vaccines are so important to prevent what happened to you.
affected. I remember getting the vaccine on a sugar cube at school in the 1960s. And there was a sort of pride in it, a wonderful new invention, parents and teachers talked about it.
This is bc it gets my story out fast - I’m working on a big article currently
