Deficits aren't the problem, there is no current or future lack of money in any government that creates a currency. The USA creates money, then makes it available, then taxes it back. Taxes don't pay for anything because taxes can only be implemented *after* the currency is in the economy.

The "deficit" to a government is the volume of money available and circulating in the economy. The more money circulating in the economy, the higher wages can be, the more stuff people can buy, and the more tax can be collected to hold the value of the currency steady.

If you're going to criticise public policy around deficits, at least read 'The Deficit Myth' by Stephanie Kelton.
It's highly accessible and written by an actual economist.

The same happens here in the UK whenever our version of the Republicans get into power.

The Tory party, (in power for the last 14 years) managed to nearly double our national debt. I can’t recall them ever balancing the books.

(That’s despite service cuts, higher taxes and privatisation.)
