New publication! When is it fair to tax the rich?
I ask what attributes of the rich (hard worker, charitable, from modest background, treats workers well, etc) affect support for taxing the rich. (1/2)

Support for taxing the rich goes up when the rich use tax loopholes, treat their workers badly, do not give to charity.
Indicators of merit (coming from a wealthy family, not having a strong work ethic) matter less or not at all.
Looks really interesting, look forward to reading.
I realize these are perceptions.
But the rich ought to pay tax *regardless* of whether they are prosocial.
Many are "prosocial" (but in vested-interest ways, like names on buildings). And many still underpay to society.
At this point in the game, I think most of us would settle for the rich paying the SAME % of tax as the rest of us.
(even though it would be great if they paid MORE, given their means, and how they also benefit from thriving societies).
