Bingo. And I’d argue we need to separate offsets from cheaper land use offsets, which have many biodiversity, water retention, etc benefits but are impermanent, from additive, verifiable & permanent post FF & IPPU CCS mitigation & carbon dioxide removal, which serve usually one purpose & are $$$.

Offsets are mostly a scam, and nobody should be talking about them as an alternative to emissions reductions. High quality offsets with verification are very expensive, but that's not what most people are buying. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
