Ok, ta. Didn’t really pay close attention at the time, I just remember being relieved hearing that Le Pen et al didn’t end up with a majority then seeing a lot of people outraged at Macron for installing Barnier instead.
They don’t seem to understand that perfection is the enemy of the good. One of the reasons why Harris failed - natural Democrats voted Green or abstained to punish them for supporting Israel. How’s that going to work out 🤪

Don’t know why Macron chose him in particular in the end, but the centre and left blocks made it clear they would never support a RN candidate for PM.
