Chat GPT is a lot like your Uncle Bill. If you ask him something everyone knows about, he’ll probably give you the correct answer. If you ask him something obscure, he’ll just make stuff up. Also, he’s subtly racist.

I will remind people why things got better in the early 20th century, the workers organised, they went on strike, they refused to work unless they got what they wanted. The richest had to cave in, because you actually have all the power. It's time for it to happen again.

So most drivers admit to not knowing highway code basics. 75% seem to have emotional and anger issues that means they probably shouldn't be driving in the first place. Amazing how many drivers out themselves as incompetent.

Lmao do you understand how far you have to cross the line for the cops to charge you for harassing a trans person on TERF island? The details must be AWFUL here.

The EHRC guidance isn't just aggressively anti-trans, it's also actively authoritarian and openly anti-LGBTQ+, attempting to break LGBTQ+ freedom of association. Any government that does not resist it will be complicit in the most significant shift to social conservatism we've seen in decades.

If you see this post a #vampire and pass it on

What they're demanding are basic human rights, you patronizing knob.

I will genuinely never understand people who get freaked out by people speaking a language that isn’t English near them. Like, GROW UP.

now this is hard hitting journalism

Isn't there a papal candidate that you've overlooked?

the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom releasing a "men drive like this, but ladies drive like this" opinion in a high-profile 2025 case is Peak Britain

Happy World Penguin Day to all penguins, but especially Nils, who didn’t let living in Edinburgh (or being a penguin) stop him from becoming The Colonel-in-Chief of the Norwegian King’s Guard. He’s also been knighted. His official title is Brigadier Sir Nils Olav III and here he is looking regal af

literally "i don't think that's true, where did you hear that?" and "this sounds like a culture war that doesn't effect you, why are you so invested in it?" goes a long way

The reason why older generations burnt the shit out of their meat and boiled the shit out of their vegetables, was your kid died if you didn't. Medium rare steaks and roasted Brussels sprouts are a side effect of an intact food safety infrastructure

This excellent piece is a kind of microstudy of what's gone wrong with the housing "market": Millions of people buying tickets for a private lottery, for a one-in-200-million chance of winning a former council house, which none of them could ever dream of being able to buy.

morning all, this made me hiss like a cat

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the best RPG I've played in over a decade. It is A Video Game About Things, made for adults. Incredibly moving, stunningly beautiful, and remarkably well-designed. A triumph for Sandfall Interactive, and a game you must play. My review for @shacknews.com:

What about the so-called "impartial broadcaster" the BBC stopping all the dark money climate denial think tanks like @iealondon.bsky.social being interviewed across their networks on a regular basis, unless they disclose their funding?

As Morgan Page summarized it acidly, “apparently the Court will know women when they see them,” this being the litmus test for porn in the US Supreme Court in the '60s. The comparison to obscenity law is apt. “Deep in the judgment is an idea of trans people as moral contaminants,” notes Dave Renton.

they made up a bunch of shit about jeremy corbyn being hitler 2 so they could have this guy instead

sure labour are saying and doing terrible on trans rights, asylum seekers, Palestine, disabled people, the NHS, the list goes on, but it's a price worth paying for [squints] propelling more kids into poverty

This - by an EHRC Commissioner - is a *defence* of the impact of the Supreme Court judgement. The impact is obviously, and quite deliberately, to exclude trans people from public spaces, and to claim that it's fine, legally, politically and morally. Absolutely shameful.

What she said for damn sake!!

Labour has no problem actively increasing racial discrimination. This isn't in the public interest - because the public also includes black and brown people and many people of foreign nationality. They're inviting the public to turn against each other. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

It's being reported that Labour ministers are ruling out scrapping the two-child benefit. Scrapping this cruel policy would lift 350,000 children out of poverty overnight. Instead, Keir Starmer's Government are CHOOSING to keep children in poverty rather than taxing the super-rich fairly.

Why call it a 'conclave' when you can call it VatiCon

Disabled people have the right to exist even if we can’t work. To believe we don’t have that right is eugenics and ableism.

Tell me again that it was just about women feeling safe in locker rooms. I fucking dare you.

this piece really cuts to the core of it: “they shunned you because you're an asshole” every TERF makes hatred of trans people their one and only cause in life, subsuming even casual hobbies, and it’s just a mean and miserable way to live that nobody wants to spend time around

Trans people blaming those who put a bit of chalk on some statues need to realise that there is absolutely no way we could protest which would be considered acceptable. Don't help them demonise your community.

"Why isn't everyone happy that we've made the lives of their friends and neighbors more miserable than ever through a decade-long hate campaign? They should be thanking us!"

Well, let's give it three days and double check

I hope Vance gets to meet the pope soon.

Not sure about you but if I were JD Vance and managed to bore the pope to death with one conversation I'd probably start re-evaluating some things.

The language of "trans rights activists" is so sly. It implies none of us are average people who just want to support rights for trans people; people like me who can't organise their way out of a paper bag but can turn up to a protest. Trans people who just want to live and have better things to do!

Old message from my friend Simon: “Promised you a list of names of poisonous British mushrooms. I realise now that it reads like a list of rejected Cocteau Twins song titles.”
