Just to put that in perspective, a fresh computer science graduate will almost surely be in top 10% and many in top 1%, and most will be there in five years (if they find and keep their job, of course). And yet many of these IT guys are finding it hard now to buy houses in their city of work.

"To make it to India's top 10% income earners, one must earn just Rs. 2.9 lakh a year. To enter the top 1%, Rs. 20.7 lakh will suffice. Wealth paints a similar picture. Accumulate Rs. 21 lakh in net assets, and one is now a 10-percenter. Accumulate Rs. 82 lakh and one is in the 1%."
