APOLLO: “Trade Between China and the US Collapsing .. The consequence will be empty shelves in US stores in a few weeks and Covid-like shortages for consumers and for firms using Chinese products as intermediate goods.”

Is this just China -> US or will it also affect trade for the rest of the world?
I get that losing US customers is bad for everyone, but is this a minor hit to none-US businesses or do I need to panic buy loo roll at the big tescos?
Let's be fair they do suffer A LITTLE from all this. They are much better positioned to ride it out, though, because they have LOTS of other trading partners who aren't levying tariffs. Plus I'd wager they have more tolerance for adversity, generally.
China won't suffer long. They literally make a huge amount of US goods and can now direct sell them as they have no obligation to honor US company IP. That was a mutual beneficial stance. They can just undercut US internationally.
It’s just stunning that Biden took us out of Covid, gave us a great economy, and in just three months we will be back to Covid like economic conditions, without Covid
To all MAGAs:
Do you feel like you signed up for a revolution but got a reality show rerun instead? Were you promised greatness but handed a knockoff dictatorship with extra spray tan? Does the Golden Age you were promised feel more like a "golden shower?"
Please hold—your call is important to us.
Things usually drop after the holiday season for a few months, then pick back up
2025 didn't drop as much because of warehouses stocking up ahead of tariffs
Future bookings for container ships has now dropped 60%
Expect COVID level empty shelves by June/July
Trump doesn't seem to get that the reason the US has a trade deficit with China is that American demand for Chinese goods for exceeds their demand for ours. We've been a service economy rather than manufacturing for years. Most Chinese imports aren't going to be made in the US... ever.
Great point. The whole reason these things are made overseas and not in the US anymore is Americans won't do that work for the same low wages. I watched a YT vid today about famous brands no longer made in America; Westinghouse, Philco, Magnavox, Zenith, RCA, Admiral, Amana...
American’s may have to do that work for minimum wage if Tramp tanks the economy like he’s currently doing. Only problem is I don’t forsee companies building new or factories here to make products here especially with President Uncertainty in office.
All self inflicted by the orange lunatic we have as president. Things are already getting more expensive and it will get worse by the time the effects fully kick in.
Dollar stores are the only places where many low income earners shop. As if they need another punch in the gut. But big box stores and their customers will be hit hard too. It’s as if trump didn’t give a damn. #VoteBlue , flip Congress and impeach this SOB.
I've been watching CNBC this week. Why aren't they calling it out for the madness it is? Instead they're just like, "wow, this options trading CEO is making a killing!"

Remember who started the inflation fire in 2020/2021 - it was Trump. Now we are heading for a repeat.
Soooooo much winning, especially for the financially struggling. For so many, they are in the find out/leopards are eating MY face? stage?!!

Could he have been.... LYING (to avoid having Trump call him up to verbally abuse him after seeing him say that on TV)?
