Freedom of reach is the real battle in social media right now. Algorithmic feeds vs. deterministic timelines isn't just UX - it's about whether platforms or users control what gets seen. And these choices fundamentally reshape online communities. 1/6

Threads vs. Bluesky. Spot the difference.

I never touched Threads because I didnt want someone else deciding what I see. I wanted to choose for myself.

Many of the comments are left by ai/bots or stray maggots.
Negative karma accounts shouldn’t be getting any engagement at all and blocked immediately.
1 thing I’ll really miss is the memories that pop up. I love being reminded of 1/2
We need to help make change easier for people.
I also think platforms leaning hard politically one way or the other cause people to not move easily too.
Then there's the Sunk Cost fallacy. They'd rather stay somewhere horrible than cut their losses and move.
I turned off Facebook for 5 years after one morning realising I had spent 2 hours of my time scanning the feed. Such a time waster 😆
Have deleted all but 10 people from my FB acct & all old posts, but still holding on as I sort my immigration in UK as there is an excellent group resource.
1) how many users post/like/comment
2) is it being promoted financially
3) the platforms values

For everyone - please stop the excuses and leave those sites TODAY. The longer you and your friends engage there, the harder it will be to fix this country. Do you want easy or democracy?
I'm still getting spambot notifications about liking my post. To document the spambot problem w/ nobody caring from the top, I started adding the bots to the list function. Watch that become disabled soon.
Spambots are users and can view ads according to Elon

The organic discovery is quasi zero
Either you have to be discovered from somewhere where you already have a presence maybe
Otherwise good luck
If you are here for sometime you'll know
You are also just talking about getting content part
Not the getting engagement part
Good luck with that
I see a lot of big accs that posted about moving to bsky but haven't posted in 1mo/3mo

Seems like we’re always arguing over a kind of tyranny of the majority, or delegating extreme authority to a single entity. I hope I’m wrong, but I kinda think there’s no good answer to this stuff.
