Having sat on hiring committees for both faculty and staff (the staff ones being where administrators have the primary say) I agree there are problem with the faculty hiring process and also am 100% certain that if faculty were not the primary voices in faculty hiring everything would be much worse.

Having sat on hiring committees, led them, and sitting on one right now - I 100000% believe that faculty should not have AS MUCH of a say as we do in hiring.
+ the stories we share w/ each other at conferences are nightmare fuel.
But, this man's intention is obvious and would be worse.
