We are now living in the (probably brief) period of time when we still call COVID-19 "the pandemic" instead of "the first pandemic." Like the years when World War I was still "the Great War."

Tangentially, calling it "Armistice Day" and making it a national holiday was such an act of sweet & hopeful, dopey naiveté on the part of THE WHOLE WORLD. That "change it to Veterans Day" is akin to when folks just begin using their treadmill to hang clothes.

I'm sorry, why would you, or anyone, think COVID-19 is "the first pandemic?" It almost certainly won't be the last, but how poor does your grasp of history have to be to think it's the first?
