I believe this is why cities and higher population areas tend to be more liberal. You meet people outside of your normal clan and learn that they are not some scary villain.
I’m so proud of him for admitting his view changed. That is such a hard thing to do!
💯.For 10 years my family lived in a semi rural area where racism, bigotry & misogyny were rife.I knew, but my children didn’t understand. I vowed we’d move house, before they became hateful too.The 1st week we moved to a city,my youngest said by living in a city,he learned “strangers CAN be kind”. 🥰
Regular Americans need to see the real stories of trans people, talk to them. It won't change everybody's minds, but if one mind can be changed, so can many. I'm glad this guy took that education and spoke on it.
My nephew is trans. So much of his life was filled with dread & self-loathing before. My sister was a devout Christian who loved and supported him. She quoted from the Bible, "love the sinner, hate the sin." She even apologized to me for voting for T 2016.
Respect to this man. It takes a hell of a lot of courage to get up and admit that his views changed in real-time. I've never met him, but I already have an incredible amount of respect for him! 💜
I just hope others realize that they don't need to blindly follow the lead of others. Change is okay!
Not only is he brave for publicly changing his mind, but so are all the people that gave the testimony that changed his mind! So glad he was willing to listen and empathize with his neighbors
He did the right thing, which is listen with intent to learn. He was open enough to absorb what he was seeing and hearing and that gave him the gift of knowledge which created a change of heart.
