Yep. And it’s even worse. Their “algorithm” is a search feature looking for a bunch of words in a database that they don’t like. Find the words, abolish the department and fire the people associated with those words. Then yell “no more waste!” and make up a numbers that you think were saved. Easy!

Though, in reality, even if it was in X code, it would take weeks/months to develop a plan to do what they are saying.

Musk's geniuses weren't born when COBOL programs were being written. And guess what! COBOL is still the best language for those types of programs. They are only being "ported" to "modern" and far less appropriate platforms because COBOL isn't taught anymore.

Specifically, if the Date of Birth field is blank, it defaults to 1875, which is where he's getting this nonsense about 150-year-old recipients. If he were half as bright as he tells people, he'd check to see if there were any from, say, 1878, and on finding none, he might ask why.

So true! Additionally, there was no work or task analysis done to determine how things were going to carry on after they fired everybody. They say that AI will replace people, but Implementing any new system to do the work of the people fired will take months or most likely years. And can it really?

Truly. We do desperately need to upgrade our federal IT systems and that WOULD cut down and fraud, abuse, and waste, but it’s so much more fun to say “AI will fix it.” Instead of doing the hard, expensive work of actually upgrading our infrastructure.
