Change your withholding to the highest number of dependents possible. It needs to be accurate when you file, but not for withholding purposes.
Put the money that you're "saving" in an interest bearing account so you can easily pay the difference when you file; or keep it (which might be trouble).

They changed that a few yrs back, BS stating it's more transparent, no it's more you take my money & don't give what I deserve back. I used to be able to claim 1, but if single defaults to 0, have no option to choose since no kids

I did look up, says supposed to be another update this yr. I'll have to see when it changes. My work like most is electronic so it's not like you're manually filling it out. So they to bring back allowances if single. I like closest to even as possible & that was always 1, not 0

There's literally no option. I had 1 & then one day awhile ago I'm like WTF I didn't change to 0, it was automatically changed since you have no choice. All you have is checkbox if single or not

I live in NM and agree. Unfortunately, I teach in the reddest area of ABQ. The parents there feel so entitled. The faculty hates the district we are in, but it is a job.
