Judges get ignored or arrested, they have no more meaning. Keeping up appearances is not helping anyone. Say what it is, a Dictatorship, and deal with it accordingly. What is the second amendment for? And the 14th, the 25th?
Not large enough. Sadly. As Trump will not react to legal pressure, people's pressure or any pressure really, it leaves only a violent solution, keeping American tradition alive. Since he pissed everyone off, it's a question of time until someone says enough is enough
Not just against higher education, but against the institution that taught most of the team haphazardly throwing together his shitass policy. If he thinks the people who trained some of the best lawyers in the US aren't going to fight back in every way possible, he's got another thing coming.
I am very much afraid that he will. In four years (assuming he leaves) the damage will be done. Institutions will fold and students will not want to risk coming here
I don’t believe Harvard will fold but I’m afraid you’re right about international students not wanting to enroll in our universities now. What a cluster fuck.
'Is it a good idea to study in the US?: Yes/No' could be a simple intelligence test for international students. 'Yes' would indicate they need more prep.
Courts already said no. The bill Congress passed basically says administration can’t be held in contempt by the courts. Who’s going to be the first to fold?
The thousands of smaller schools that serve the vast majority of college students are bleeding torrents. Our international enrollment is already half what it was last year. Most of the current cohort say they will not return in the fall out of fear.
This has a negative cascading effect on funding. We're already cutting staff, instructors, and entire programs. The summer term is a hollow shell. We submit our next budget in two months. Even if approved at requested levels, we are already in real danger of not existing a year from now.
Federal funding for higher education is frozen. Lots of my colleagues aren’t teaching right now. University of New Hampshire had its funding pulled because the female president refused to roll back DEI. He’s not losing fast enough.
It’s worth noting my classes are over full, and we’re turning students away. Students loans are still happening, but the fight to keep the doors open and staff (including teachers) paid is real. I teach in a niche program, or my 24 year career would be over.
