A guy jumped into a parents Facebook group in my neighbourhood to tell us that a bunch of RAs (we don't have one) were standing up to protect our neighbourhood... which has a bunch of grandfathered neighbourhood retail...

It would be very helpful for someone to create a doc if RAs and how many people they likely represent…it’s clear from some of the emails that some represent one building with 30 units…and likely didn’t consult those units…

I worked in a Mayors office. The RA’s are organized & have money & time to burn. They also all vote. If they weren’t onside with something, it wouldn’t move forward.

If neighbours are scared of noise and outdoor food or whatever other inane thing, we should simple propose banning it entirely for neighbourhoods. No private backyard bbqs, no parties, no music. Children playing in your private pool? ban 'em. The noise might upset me 😱. /s

I just checked - where I live on the Danforth had one set up in 2018 - and the website hasn't been updated since 2019. Looks like dealing with the local councillor was too much even for them.

RAs are near universally just a few busybodies who can occasionally rile a medium group of folks up against big projects.
